Occupational therapy (OT) is a healthcare profession. It involves the use of assessment and intervention to develop, recover, or maintain the meaningful activities, or occupations, of individuals, groups, or communities. The field of OT consists of health care practitioners trained and educated to improve mental and physical performance. Occupational therapists specialise in teaching, educating, and supporting participation in any activity that occupies an individual’s time.

Vocational Services

Occupational therapy services include case co-ordination, implementing and monitoring of graduated return to work programs, ergonomic consultation, cognitive remediation, functional cognitive assessment and remediation, community integration assessments and remediation, treatment planning and supervision of rehabilitation assistant supported programs, return to Work Facilitation, Functional Capacity Evaluations, Individualized Multidisciplinary Functional Conditioning Programs, Cognitive Assessment and Rehabilitation.

Hospital Discharge Planning

Hospital discharge planning with co-ordination of equipment and care needs, home health equipment prescription, home safety and accessibility assessments, and homemaking support needs assessment.

Home and Community Care

In the field of home and community care, KHS is dedicated to providing timely hospital liaison and discharge planning for clients with decreased functional mobility and difficulty in activities of daily living. Occupational therapists complete home accessibility assessments and provide recommendations and case co-ordination regarding medical equipment, home renovations, rehabilitation, and personal care support.
