Sharisse Kyle

Sharisse relocated to Nelson from Alberta in 2012 and joined Kootenay health services in 2015. Prior to 2015 she worked as a sport medicine physician at the University of Calgary sport medicine center and the Banff sport medicine center. While in Alberta, she was team physician for the University of Calgary women’s hockey team and consulting physician for other varsity sports, as well as for local, national and international sporting events in various domains. Over the past 2 years, she has taken on the volunteer position of medical director for the Whitewater ski area on-hill doctor program and has volunteered for the local triathlon.

She held a teaching position with the University of Calgary in musculoskeletal medicine and was the sport medicine residency and student education program director. She is still passionate about teaching and will be involved in the growing local medical student and residency-teaching program.

She was actively involved in both Banff and Calgary with the acute knee injury clinic and osteoarthritis assessment clinic; as well as having a referral based sport medicine practice.
She is a member of a number of Sport medicine organizations including the Canadian academy of sport and exercise medicine, American academy of sport medicine, Wilderness medicine society, and Canadian Mountain medicine society.

She is a former nationally ranked long distance runner, masters triathlete and endurance cyclist. She is passionate about the outdoor lifestyle that Nelson offers and to be part of a vibrant community.
